How to Use Apple Cider Vinegar in the Garden

1. Natural Plant Fertiliser

Our low-acidity, nutrient-rich ACV is ideal for enriching soil. Mix one tablespoon of Willy’s ACV into a litre of water, pour into a watering can, and apply at the base of plants - avoiding leaves to prevent wilting.

2. Leaf Cleaner and Pest Deterrent

Dusty leaves can block sunlight and slow growth. Wipe them with a soft cloth dipped in a mild ACV-and-water solution. This not only cleans but also helps deter small pests like aphids and mites.

3. Fruit Fly Trap

Combine ACV, water, a spoonful of sugar and a splash of molasses in a shallow bowl. The scent attracts fruit flies, which get caught in the liquid. Place near compost bins or fruit trees and empty regularly.

4. Slug Deterrent

Mix one part vinegar to three parts water in a spray bottle and apply directly to slugs. Avoid contact with plant foliage, as the acidity can damage leaves.

5. Tool Cleaner and Rust Remover

To restore rusty garden tools, soak metal parts in ACV overnight or spray and wipe down with a cloth. The acetic acid helps dissolve surface rust naturally.
